The Environmental Geography Unit investigates environmental pressures and change with special emphasis on time, scale and localization aspects, and with the aim of informing environmental management and planning at different levels of governance.  

We study changes in land use and land cover, and related effects on landscape composition and functions. Moreover, we analyze localization of sectorial activities, related resource use, flows and emissions at relevant spatial scales; and the usefulness of environmental policy frameworks and instruments on human practises, land use and landscape.
