On the y axis x co-ordinate = 0

x = 0 substituting in equation

0 - y = 8

y = -8

hope it helped you

Equation of straight line is:-

x - y = 8

Reduce this equation in intercepts form i.e

 \frac{x}{a}   +  \frac{y}{b}  = 1

To reduce this equation divide the equation by 8.

So,

 \frac{x}{8}  +  \frac{( - y)}{8}  =  \frac{8}{8}  \\  \\  \frac{x}{8}  +  \frac{(y)}{( - 8)}  = 1

So intercept on Y axis = - 8.

Thus the coordinate where this line intersect Y axis is (0, - 8).

Hope it helps.
