Correct question Should be as follows

find the coordinates of point on the x-axis which are at a distance of 17 units from the.( 11, -8)

Given:

A coordinates of a point P = ( 11, -8)

To Find:

Coordinates of a point whose distance is 17 units from X- axis.

Solution:

It is clear that,

At X - axis, y coordinate of any point is Zero

Now, Let the coordinates of required point is ( x , 0 )

It is given that, Distance between the required point and P is 17 units.

Using Distance formula,

√{( X2 - X1)² + ( Y2 - Y1 )²} = 17

√{ ( x - 11)² + (0- (-8) )² } = 17

( x - 11 )² +64 = 289

( x - 11 )² = 225

( x - 11 ) = ± 15

x - 11 = 15 or  x - 11 = -15

x = 26 or  x = -4

Hence,  Coordinates of required point is ( 26,0 ) or ( -15, 0 )
