since it is the midpoint , the ratio will be 1 : 1

using section formula

for X coordinate

$x=\frac{1(5)+1(1)}{1+1}\\x = \frac{5+1}{2}\\x=\frac{6}{2}\\x=3$

for Y coordinate

$y=\frac{1(3)+1(-1)}{1+1} \\y=\frac{3-1}{2}\\y=\frac{2}{2}\\y=1$

THEREFORE P(3 , 1) IS THE REQUIRED POINT.
