AnsWer :

The Coordinate of the point be ( -2 , 1 )

Given :

  • We have two point,
  • P1 = ( 2 , 3 )
  • P2 = ( -4 , 0 )
  • Line Segment divided in the 2 : 1.

Solution :

Let,

  • A ( 2 , 3 )
  • B ( -4 , 0 )

We have Formula, ( Called as, Section Formula )

 \tt\dagger \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \dfrac{ m_1 x_2+ m_2x_1 }{m_1+ m_2 }

 \tt\dagger \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \dfrac{ m_1 y_2 + m_2y_1 }{m_1+ m_2 }

Where as,

  • x1 = 2.
  • x2 = -4.
  • y1 = 3.
  • y2 = 0.
  • m1 = 2.
  • m2 = 1.

Putting given value,

For X

 \tt \longmapsto  \dfrac{2( - 4) + 1(2)}{3}

 \tt \longmapsto  \dfrac{-6}{3}

 \tt \longmapsto -2 .

\rule{90}1

For Y.

 \tt\longmapsto  \dfrac{2(0) + 1(3)}{3}

 \tt \longmapsto  \dfrac{3}{3}

 \tt \longmapsto 1.

So, Our Coordinate become

( x , y ) = ( -2 , 1 )

Therefore, the value of given line segment dividend be ( -2 , 1 )

\rule{200}3
