Area of the Room = l×b
= 13m × 9m
=117m sq.
Now, Width of carpet = 75cm = 0.75m
Therefore, Length of carpet needed
= Area of the room
________________

Width of the carpet
 = \frac{117 {m}^{2} \times 100}{75m} \\ = 156m
Now, Rate = 105Rs/m
Hence, Total Cost of Carpeting =
 = 156m \times \frac{105rs}{1m} \\ = 16380rs

Question

Find the cost of carpeting a room 13m by 9m with a carpet of width 75cm at the rate of ₹105 per metre.

Solution:-

Length of the room = 13m

Breadth of the room = 9m

Area of the room = (L×B) = (13×9)m² = 117m²

Area of the room = Area of the carpet

Width of the carpet = 75cm

 = (75 \times \frac{1}{100})m = 0.75m

Let, the length of the carpet be L

ATP

0.75 \times l \: = 117 \\ = ) \: 0.75l \: = 117 \\= ) \: l \: = \frac{117}{0.75} = 156

Cost of carpeting the room at ₹105 per m = ₹(105×156) = ₹16380
