Let the breadth(b) of the floor be x m.

 ∴ Length(l)= 3x m

By the problem,

=> 2(l+b) = 40

=> 2(3x + x)= 40

=> 6x + 2x = 40

=> 8x = 40

$= > x = \frac{40}{8}$

=> x = 5

 ∴ b = x m

= 5 m

l = 3x m

= 3 × 5 m

= 15 m

Area(a) = l × b sq. units

= (15× 5) m²

= 75 m²

 ∴ Cost of flooring the verandah at the rate of ₹ 15 per m² = ₹ (75 × 15)

= ₹ 1125
