When a polynomial has more than one variable, we need to find the degree by adding the exponents of each variable in each term.

EVALUATION

Here the given polynomial is

 \sf{5 -  {x}^{2} +  {x}^{3}  }

Now in the above polynomial the highest power of its variable ( x ) that appears with nonzero coefficient = 3

Hence the degree of the polynomial = 3
