Given -

  • Volume of the cylinder =44cm³
  • Height (h) of the cylinder =3.5cm

To find

  • The diameter of the cylinder

Solution -

We know that,

Volume \: of \: cylinder = \pi {r}^{2} h

Now by putting the values we will get

44 =  \frac{22}{7}  \times  {r}^{2}  \times 3.5

44 =  \frac{22}{7}  \times  {r}^{2}  \times  \frac{35}{10}

44 =  {r}^{2}  \times  \frac{770}{70}

44 =  {r}^{2}  \times 11

 {r}^{2}  =  \frac{44}{11}

 {r}^{2}  = 4

r =  \sqrt{4}

r = 2

Radius of the cylinder =2 cm

Now,

We know that,

Diameter =2×radius

Diameter =2×2

Diameter =4

Therefore the diameter of the cylinder is 4 cm

Related Formulae -

1)Volume \: of \: cylinder = \pi {r}^{2} h

2)Curved \: surface \: area \: of \: cylinder = 2\pi \: rh

3)Total \: surface \: area \: of \: cylinder = 2\pi \: r(r + h)
