You can think of 1/2 as 1 out of 2, so if you get a pie and cut it in two equal pieces, 1/2 of the pie is one piece of the two pieces.

Similarly, if this same pie was cut into 3 equal pieces, 1/3 of the pie is basically one of the pieces.

Using logic, its obvious one piece of a pie that was cut into two equal pieces (1/2) is larger than that piece from a pie that was cut into three equal pieces(1/3). And this shows that 1/2 is larger than 1/3

2−13=3−26=16.
