We know that,

  • Distance travelled, is the total area between the velocity - time graph.

So,

Area of \DeltaABC,

  • ½ × base × height
  • ½ × 5 × 20
  • 10 × 5
  • 50

Area of \DeltaCDE

  • ½ × base × height
  • ½ × 5 × 10
  • 5 × 5
  • 25

So, the total distance travelled will be 25 + 50 = 75m.

Now, for the displacement,

  • We have subtract the positive area of graph from the negative.
  • So, 50 - 25 = 25 m

Thus, the total distance covered will be 75m and the total displacement is 25m.
