The distance between the given points is 11.66

Given :

The given points are ( -8, 6) and (2, 0)

To find:

The distance between the given points.

Solution:

The formula for distance between the two points is,

Distance formula = \sqrt{(x_2 - x_1)^{2}+ (y_2- y_1)^{2}  }

Here, x_1 = -8, x_2 = 2, y_1 = 6, and y_2 = 0

The distance between the given points = \sqrt{(2 - (-8))^{2}+ (0- 6)^{2}  }

                                                                   = \sqrt{(2+8)^{2}+ (- 6)^{2}  }

                                                                    = \sqrt{(10)^{2}+ 36  }

                                                                    = \sqrt{100+36}

                                                                     = \sqrt{136}

Removing the square root we get,

                                                                     = 11.66

Hence the distance between the given points is 11.66
