find the distance between each of following paris of points :- L(5; -8 ) M (-7 ; -3)

Solution:

Let L(5,-8) = (x1,y1),

M(-7,-3) = (x2,y2)

Distance between L and M

= LM

= √(x2-x1)²+(y2-y1)²

= (-7-5)²+[-3-(-8)]²

= (-12)²+(-3+8)²

= 144+5²

= 144+25

= 169

= 13²

= 13

Therefore,

LM = 13
