Distance formula - \rm \sqrt{(x_2 - x_1)^2 + (y_2 - y_1)^2}

  • \rm x_1 = 2
  • \rm x_2 = 2
  • \rm y_1 = 5
  • \rm y_2 = -12

Substituting the values in formula -

\rm \sqrt{(x_2 - x_1)^2 + (y_2 - y_1)^2}

\rm \sqrt{(2 - 2)^2 + (-12-5)^2}

\rm \sqrt{0 + 17^2}

\rm \sqrt{289}

\rm 17

Distance between the points (2,5) and (2,‐12) is 17.
