Find the distance between the points Ax y (, ) 1 1 and Bx y (, ) 2 2 , when (i) AB is parallel to the x-axis (ii) AB is parallel to the y-axis.​

Answer : when AB is parallel to the y - axis , then A and B have the same obscissa .

Then , A ( x, y 1 ) and B ( x, y 2 ) are the given points . So AB = [ y 2 - y 1 ]
