Given line is x-y=5 and point (-2,3).We want distance between P(-2,3) and line L : x-y=5.
Equation of line parallel to L and passing through P is
M :x-y=-5.
Required distance =|OL-OM|
 =|5/√(2)-(-5/√(2))|
 =10/√(2)
 =5√(2)
Formula used length of perpendicular drawn from origin (0,0) to line ax+by+c=0 is
=c/√((a)^2+(b)^2).
