General equation of circle is
(x-a)²+(y-b)²=r²

Subtituting the value given;
So equation of circle will be
(x-a)²+(y-b)²=2 Answer

shaili1: I know till this, but my answer is not coming. can you please solve it?
shaili1: the answer is x²+y²-2ax-2ay=0
Anonymous: yup wait
Anonymous: do we have something more in the question
Anonymous: because my answer is x²+y²+2a²-2ax-2ay=2
shaili1: no, there nothing more

Hi ,

Equation of the circle whose centre

is ( a , b ) and radius = r is

( x - a ) ² + ( y - b ) ² = r²

According to the problem given ,

Centre = ( a , a ) ; r = √2

( x - a )² + ( y - a )² = ( √2 )²

x² - 2ax + a² + y² - 2ay + a² = 2

x² + y² - 2ax - 2ay + 2a² - 2 = 0

I hope this helps you.

:)

shaili1: but the answer in the book is x²+y²-2ax-2ay=0
mysticd: if the radius is √2 a then we get the answer
mysticd: check the question
Anonymous: yup
shaili1: I think the answer is wrong in the book then
mysticd: yes
shaili1: Thank you so much for helping^_^
