TO DETERMINE

The equation of straight line pa'ssing through the point (3,-4) and perpendicular to the line 3x + 5y - 21 = 0

EVALUATION

Here the given equation of the line is

3x + 5y - 21 = 0

Now the equation of the line perpendicular to the given line is

5x - 3y + c = 0 - - - - - (1)

Now the Equation 1 goes through the point (3, - 4)

So we get

15 + 12 + c = 0

⇒ 27 + c = 0

⇒ c = - 27

Hence the required equation of the line is

5x - 3y - 27 = 0
