Find the equation of the line passing through the point (0,0) and making equal angles with the
coordinate axes.​

y= mx ---- (I)

Inclination of line (I) on the x-axis is given by

i1= m = y/x

Inclination of line (I) on the y-axis is given by

i2 = 1/m = x/y

For line (I) to have equal inclination with the coordinate axes,

=> y/x = x/y

=> (x^2 –y^2) = 0

=> (x+y) (x-y) = 0

=> x+y = 0 and x-y= 0

Answer :-

x+y=0

x-y=0
