Solution :
Equation of a Line whose x - intercept
is 5 and which passes through the
point ( -3 , 2 ).
Let the point A( 5 , 0 ) on x - axis and
passing through the point B( -3, 2 ) is
A(5,0) = ( x1 , y1 ) ,
B(-3 , 2 ) = ( x2,y2),
y - y1 = [ (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)]( x -x1 )
=> y -0 = [(2-0)/(-3-5)](x-5)
=> y = ( 2/-8) ( x - 5 )
=> y = (-1/4) ( x - 5 )
=> 4y = -(x-5)
=> 4y + x -5 = 0
=> x + 4y - 5 = 0
