Let L1 be perpendicular to line L2

L2 : y = 3x + 2

i.e. 3x - y + 2 = 0

» m2 = 3

Since, m1 is perpendicular to m2

Therefore, m1 = -1/3

Therefore, equation of the line is

» (y - 5)/(x - 3) = -1/3

» 3 (y - 5) = -x + 3

» 3y - 15 = -x + 3

» x + 3y - 18 = 0

Is the required equation of the line.
