It is very simple.
Given - f(x) = 2x^3 + 9x^2 + 4x - 12
First find the factors of the constant -12
The factors are -1, -2 , -3, -4, -6, -12
By plugging for value of x we find that -2 is one of the zeroes of the given polynomial
2(-2)^3 + 9(-2)^2 + 4(-2) - 12
= -16 + 36 - 8 - 12 = 0
So f(-2) = 0
So x + 2 is one of the factors
Now proceed as given in the picture attached.
