Let the fourth proportion be x

2.8:14::3.5:x

Product of means= Product of extremes

2.8× x= 14×3.5

2.8x= 49

x= 49/2.8

x= 20

Therefore the fourth proportion is 20.

14 ÷ 2.8 = 5
therefore
3.5 × 5 = 17.5
because
2.8/14 = 3.5/x
x = 14 × 3.5 / 2.8
x = 17.5
