Geometric mean will be equal to the square root of the product of two given numbers.  SO mean is = √25*64  = 40.

Detailed method:
Let the number - mean be X and ratio be r

given series is  = 25, X, 64
Hence    X = 25 r  and 64 = 25 r²  => r² = 64/25  => r = 8/5
So X =  25 r        =  >>  X = 25*8/5 = 40
