F = mg

On mass 1 kg
10 N = (1 kg) × g
g = 10 m/s²

Potential energy = mgh
= 2.5 kg × 10 m/s² × 15 m
= 375 joules

Gravitational potential energy on mass 2.5 kg is 375 joules

saka82411: Is this necessary to find gravity???
saka82411: We already know that it is a constant equal to 10
JunaidMirza: g = 9.8 m/s²
saka82411: Yeah I know .Is it necessary to find it in this question???
JunaidMirza: “the force of gravity on mass 1kg is 10 N” This statement is mentioned in question only because we should not take g = 9.8 m/s²

Given : 2.5kg mass kept at a height od 15 m above the ground

the force of gravity on mass 1kg is 10 N

To Find :

Gravitational potential energy

Solution:

F  = ma

F  = mg   when a = g

force of gravity on mass 1kg is 10 N

=> 10  = 1 * g

=> g = 10 m/s²

Gravitational potential energy = mgh

m = 2.5 kg

g = 10 m/s²

h = 15 m

PE = 2.5 x 10 x 15

= 375 J
