Concept:

The division is the basic mathematical operation that is used to reduce the term and to separate the part.

Given:

The greatest number of 6 digits that is divisible by 156.

Find:

We are asked to find the greatest number of 6 digits.

Solution:

We have,

The greatest number of 6 digits that is divisible by 156.

So,

The largest 6-digit number is 999999,

Now,

Divide this 6-digit largest number by 156,

i.e. 999999/156

we get,

6410(39/156)

So,

Here,

The remainder is 39,

I.e.

We have to subtract 39 from the largest 6-digit number,

i.e.

= 999999 - 39 = 999960

So,

This is the greatest number of 6 digits that is divisible by 156 and leaves no remainder.

Hence, the greatest number of 6 digits that is divisible by 156 and leaves no remainder is 999960.
