find the greatest number which divides 30 and 45 without leaving a remainder

Prime factorisation of 30 = 2 × 3 × 5


Prime factorisation of 45 = 3 × 3 × 5


HCF of 30 and 45 = 3 × 5 = 15


Hence,

Required Number = HCF of 45 and 30 = 15

As we can see that (3×5) is common in both,

So, the largest number reqiured here is 3×5=15
