find the greatest that can divide 166 and 237 leaving remainder 5 and 7

Given no. are = 166 and 237

We need to find the greatest no. that is HCF
But before doing that we'll subtract 5 and 7 from 166 abd 237 respectively

166-5 =161
237-7 =230

Now we will find the HCF

161 =7*23
230= 2 x 5 x 23

Clearly 23 is the HCF!

HCf of 161 and 230 = 23
