Answer: HCF of 144 and 198 is 18.

Solution:

The largest number which divides the given two or more numbers exactly is known as Highest Common Factor.

HCF of 144 =2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 3

HCF of 198 =2 \times 3 \times 3 \times 11

HCF is highest common factor, hence consider the common terms in 144 and 198

HCF of 144 and 90 = \bold{3 \times 3 \times 2}=18

In given problem 18 is the HCF which divides the numbers 144 and 198 exactly.
