36)256(7. 256:(36*7)+4
252 36:(4*9)+0
________
4)36(9
36
_________
0
___________
So HCF is 4..

HCF(a,b)×LCM(a,b) =a×b
4×LCM(a,b)=256×36
LCM(a,b)=9216/4
=2304

here is your answer
=================
the HCF of 256=2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2

HCF of 36. =2×2×3×3

so the common of both number is 2×2=4

so HCF =4
------------------------------
LCM of 256,36 is

2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×3×3=2304

so now we verifed both number

HCF×LCM=product of the two numbers

4×2304 = 256×36

9216. = 9216

so its verifed

now we use euclids division algorithm

256= 36 ×7 +4

36 = 4×9+0

so HCF of 256&36 is 4

i hope you understand
