Answer:

Euclids division lemma

140= 90 × 1 + 50

90 = 50 × 1 + 40

50 = 40 × 1 + 10

40 = 10 ×4 + 0

So, HCF (90, 140) = 10

We, get 10 because in HCF the number above 0 is our answer

Another method

90 = 3 x 3 x 10

140 = 7 x 2 x 10

So, 10 is common in both so, our HCF is 10

I am providing you the solution with Euclid's division algorithm......

140=90*1+40

Now,.

90=40*2+10

And,

40=10*4+0

When there is a zero after the plus, it indicates that the no. before the 'equal to' is completely divisible by the no. immediately after the 'equal to' .

And thus 10 is the HCF of 90& 140
