Solution :
- HCF , stand for Highest Common Factor .
- HCF for given number [ here 20,40] is the greatest number by which when the given [ here 20,40 ] will be divided , it will leave zero as remainders.
Here we need to find HCF by prime factorization method, for that we need to find prime factor of given number [ here 20,40 ]
20 = 2 × 2 × 5
40 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 5
Now , we need to take prime factor which are common to both the number.
Here common prime factor are ➝ 2 , 2 and 5
So HCF of 20 & 40 = 2×2×5 = 20
ANSWER : 20
