Find the LCM and HCF of 24, 30 and 42 by the prime factorisation method.​

First what you do is that you take prime factors of the three numbers =

24 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3

30 = 2 × 5 × 3

42 = 2 × 3 × 7

Now in this HCF = Higest common factor

So 2 is common in both so take 2 outside .

Then 3 is common also so take three outside also .

Now,

HCF = 2 × 3                    (As both are there so multiply)

HCF = 6

Now ,

For LCM

Take all the common as one like 2 is common in all then take 2 single insted to taking 2 as three different numbers.

So we get 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 5 × 7 = 840

So the LCM is 840

∴ HCF = 6

∴ LCM = 840
