265 is nearest to the square of 16i.e; 256

and the difference between 265-256=9

265+(-9)=256 and there square root is 16

and other number is 18 in which 18+(-9)=9

and there square root is 3

so, -9 is the least number by adding to 18, 265 we obtain a perfect square i.e; 9, 16
