let the right angled side be A and the longest adjecent  side of A  be B and the shortest adjecent side be C  .

by pythagoras' theorem ,

($x$ = CB)

$AB^{2}$ + $CA^{2}$ = $CB^{2}$

$6^{2}$  + $8^{2}$ = $CB^{2}$

$CB^{2}$ = $6^{2}$ +$8^{2}$

$CB^{2}$ = 36 +64

$CB^{2}$ = 100

CB =$\sqrt{100}$

CB=$\sqrt{10 X 10}$

CB =10

hence the value of $x$ is 10 .
