let the right angled side be A and the longest adjecent  side of A  be B and the shortest adjecent side be C  .

by pythagoras' theorem ,

(x = CB)

AB^{2} + CA^{2} = CB^{2}

6^{2}  + 8^{2} = CB^{2}

CB^{2} = 6^{2} +8^{2}

CB^{2} = 36 +64

CB^{2} = 100

CB =\sqrt{100}

CB=\sqrt{10 X 10}

CB =10

hence the value of x is 10 .

hope it helps you
