find the lenghth of the chord,which is at a distance of 12cm from the centre of a circle of radius 13cm

here is your answer

given

distance = 12 cm

radius = 13cm


to find length of chord


we use Pythagoras theorem

(h)square = ( B) square + (p) square

We take - ac= 13. and ab= 12. bc as it is

(Ac) square = (Ab) square + ( bc) square

(13).Square = (12) square + (bc) square

169 = 144 + ( bc) square

transpose 144 to 169 for subtraction

169- 144= (bc) square

25 = (bc) square

so bc. = root 25

and bc = 5cm


so the length of chord is 5 cm
