Hi there!

Nitrogen in the gaseous form cannot be absorbed and used as a nutrient by plants and animals; it must first be converted by nitrifying bacteria.

Rhizobium Bacteria converts atmospheric nitrogen into liquid form to help plants to easily absorb it.

Hope it helps! :D

Hi there !!

Bacteria called RHIZOBIUM present in the root nodules of leguminous plants can convert atmospheric nitrogen into water soluble nitrogen compounds called nitrates.
This process of conversion of atmospheric nitrogen to nitrates is called NITROGEN FIXATION.
It is mainly categorized into 2 types
1. Atmospheric nitrogen fixation
2. Biological nitrogen fixation
