in triangle ade and abc ,
angle e=angle b
and angle a =angle a .... common
by aa similarity criterion both the triangles are similar
so, ad/ac=ae/ab .......as ratio of sides is equal
let ec be x
so, 3/4+x=4/8
24=16+4x
24-16=4x
8=4x
8/4=x
thus x=2
