see, as we know that tangent makes 90° with the radius.
so let us suppose point outside the circle be P
centre of circle be O and makes tangent at T
so ∠OTP = 90°
applying pythagoras theorem,
TP =√((5)²- (3)²)
=√16
=4 cm
hence , length of tangent will be 4 cm
