A  point which is equidistant from each side.

To Find:

The locus of the point.

Solution:

Let ( h , k ) be the point which is equidistant from both the axis.

Therefore distance between ( h , k ) and x axis is same as the distance between ( h , k ) and y axis.

  • In other words, h is the distance of the point from the y axis.
  • And k is the distance of the point from x axis.
  • Therefore, h = k .
  • By changing h to x and k to y
  • We can generalize the equation as x = y.

The locus of a point which is placed at equal distance from each side​ is

X = Y.
