mean = sum of all the observation!/ total number of observation

0+1+2+3+4+5/6

15/6 = 2.5

The mean number of children per family is 2.1

Step-by-step explanation:

see the given below attachment

given :

number of childrens = 0,1,2,3,4,5

number of families = 4,8,23,10,4,1

we have to find the mean

mean = \frac{\sum fixi}{\sum fi}

or

mean = \frac{sum of all observations }{total number of observations}

on putting the values

we get,

\sum fixi = 105\\

\sum fi = 50

mean = \frac{\sum fixi}{\sum fi}

mean = \frac{105}{50}

mean = 2.1

hence ,

The mean number of children per family is 2.1
