The mean proportional between 1.5 and 13.5 is 4.5

Given:

First number = 1.5

Second number = 13.5

To find:

The mean proportional between 1.5 and 13.5

Solution:

Let the mean proportional between 1.5 and 13.5 = x

Therefore, as per the question -

1.5 : x = x : 13.5

1.5/x = x/13.5

x × x = 1.5 × 13.5

x² = 15/10 × 135/10

x = √15/10 × 135/10

x = √ 3 × 5 × 3 × 3 × 5 /100

x = 3 × 3 × 5/10

x = 45/10

x = 4.5

Answer: The mean proportional between 1.5 and 13.5 is 4.5
