Let the measurement of larger complementary angle be y and smaller be x.

We know that , x+y=90°

And, x=y-40

Substituting x=y-40 in x+y=90 we get,

y-40+y=90

2y-40=90

2y=90+40

2y=130

y=130/2

y=65

Putting y=65 in x=y-40 we get,

x=65-40=25
