⇝ Here, the question has asked us to find the median of the data that is 28, 26, 17, 12, 14, 19, 27, 26, 21, 16, 15. So, to find the median we will apply the formula of median. Arrange the data in ascending or descending order. There are 11 terms in the data If the number of terms is odd then we will apply (n+1)/2th formula.

ANSWER:-

» The median is 19.

GIVEN:-

✪ Data = 28, 26, 17, 12, 14, 19, 27, 26, 21, 16, 15

TO FIND:-

➤ Median of data = ?

FORMULA USED:-

\to{\bf Median = \dfrac{(N + 1)}{2}th}

SOLVING STEP BY STEP:-

✪ Data = 28, 26, 17, 12, 14, 19, 27, 26, 21, 16, 15

⟶ Arrange in ascending = 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 21, 26, 26, 27, 28

⟶ No. of terms in data = 11 terms

⟶ N = 11

\to{\tt Median = \dfrac{N + 1}{2}th}

\mapsto{\sf Median =\dfrac{11 + 1}{2}th}

\mapsto{\sf Median = \dfrac{12}{2}th}

\mapsto{\sf Median = \dfrac {\not{12}}{ \not{2}}th}

\mapsto{\sf Median = \dfrac{6}{1}th}

\mapsto{\sf Median =6}

⟶ Median = 6th term

⟶ Median = 19 [As 19 is the 6th term]

Thus, we got the median. The 6th term that is 19 is the median of the data.

KNOW MORE:-

  • The formula used above is used when data is not given in form of a table.
  • The Formula of median when the data is given in tables or frequencies.
  • If n is odd then (n+1)/2th term will be median.
  • If n is even then average of middle two terms which are n/2th term and (n/2)+1th term is median.
