Answer:

Median is the number in between a series of numbers in ascending order.

Hence, we first should segregate the numbers in ascending order.

4, 4, 5, 5, 7, 7, 7, 7, 8, 9, 11

Hence over here the median is the number which is in between the series which is -

4, 4, 5, 5, 7, 7, 7, 7, 8, 9, 11

Hence, 7 is the median.

We should also see to it that the no. of numbers to the right of the median should be equal to the no. of numbers on the left of the median. ONLY THEN can we verify that our median is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

4,5,9,7,7,7,8,5,11,4,7.

To find:-

find the median of the following :- 4,5,9,7,7,7,8,5,11,4,7

Solution:-

Given data is 4,5,9,7,7,7,8,5,11,4,7

On arranging the given data into ascending order

=>4,4,5,5,7,7,7,7,8,9,11

Number of observations=11

We know that

If the number of observations "n" is an odd number then the median of the given data is

(n+1)/2 th observation

(n+1)/2th observation=(11+1)/2

=12/2=6th observation

6th observation=7

Median =7

Answer:-

Median of the given data=7

Used concept:-

  • Median is the middle term of the data when it is arranged in either ascending order or descending order.

If the number of observations of the data is "n"

then,

  • If 'n' is an even then the median is the average of n/2 th and (n/2)+1 th observations.
  • If "n" is an odd then the median is (n+1)/2th observation.
