Find the median of the following distribution:
x : 10 12 14 16 18 20
f : 3 5 6 4 4 3

therezz: do the average of the two numbers in the middle that is for x= its 14 and 16 and average is 14+16/2=15 and for y the average is 6+4/2= 5

MEDIAN:
Median is that value of the given observation which divides it into exactly two parts.

MEDIAN OF A DISCRETE SERIES:
Firstly arrange the given observations in ascending or descending order. Then, prepare a cumulative frequency table. Let n be the total number of observations (sum of frequencies).
i) If n is odd then median= value of [(n+1)/2]th observation
ii) If n is even then median= ½[value of (n/2)th + (n/2 +1) th observations].

CUMULATIVE FREQUENCY:
Cumulative frequency is defined as a consecutive sum of frequencies.

The Cumulative frequency of first observation is the same as its frequency since there is no frequency before it.
