Step-by-step explanation:

In 1st row given numbers are 13, 4 and 165.

Assume that 13 is A, 4 is B and 165 is C.

Used formula:

(B + C)½ = A

→ (4 + 165)½ = 13

→ (169)½ = 13

→ 13 = 13

Similarly in 2nd row numbers are 3, 2 and 7. Take 3 as A, 2 as B and 7 as C.

→ (2 + 7)½ = 3

→ (9)½ = 3

→ 3 = 3

In 3rd row there is no number in first box. Assume that as x.

So, the numbers are x, 11 and 14. Take x as A, 11 as B and 14 as C.

→ (11 + 14)½ = x

→ (25)½ = x

→ 5 = x

Hence, the missing number is 5.
