find the no. of atom in 11.2 l of CH4 gas at STP

Anonymous: 5/2 × NA is your answer !
Anonymous: as one mole of gas occupied 22.4 l volume at STP
Anonymous: so there is half mole of gas
Anonymous: and total no . of atom in one molecule = 5

Answer:

The number of atoms are 1.2044\times 10^{24} atoms.

Explanation:

At STP, 1 mol of gases occupies = 22.4 L

Then 11.2 L of volume will be occupied by:

\frac{1}{22.4L}\times 11.2 L=0.5 moles

Number of methane molecules = 0.5\times 6.022\times 10^{23}=3.011\times 10^{23} molecules

Number of atom in 0.5 moles = 4\times 3.011\times 10^{23}=1.2044\times 10^{24} atoms

The number of atoms are 1.2044\times 10^{24} atoms.

We know that, n = q / Na

where, q is given amount

            n is number of moles

            Na is avogadro number

So, by placing the values given it the question in the formula, we will be getting ;

   n = 11.2 ml / 22400 ml

      = 0.5 x 10 raise to power -3

Therefore, the answer is found!

Hope I Got You!

Enjoy!!
