Given:

Kasoa floor tiles each measuring 26cm in length and  10cm in width

To find:

The number of tile required.

Solution:

Number of the tiles is given by:

Area of pavement/Area of one tile

Area of one tile is given by:

  • L×B
  • 26×10
  • 260 cm²

Area of the pavement is given by

  • L×B
  • 260×15
  • 3900 m²
  • 39000000 cm²  (1 m² = 10000cm²)

Number of the tile = Area of pavement/Area of one tile

Number of the tile = 39000000/260

Number of the tile = 150000

The number of tiles required to cover the pavement is 150000.
