let x be the no.
when increased by 12% it becomes 3/25 x
therefore ,
ATQ
= x + 3/25x = 840
=> 28/25x = 840
=> x = 840*25/28

Given:

A number increased by 12% becomes 840

To find:

The number.

Solution:

To determine the number we have to follow the below steps as follows-

Let the number be x.

12% increase in x is given as-

x + x \times  \frac{12}{100}  \\ x +  \frac{3x}{25}  \\  \frac{25x + 3x}{25}  \\  \frac{28x}{25}

The result is 28x/25.

This is equal to 840 so, we can write-

 \frac{28x}{25}  = 840  \\ x = 840 \times  \frac{25}{28}  \\ x = 750

The value of x is 750.

Hence the number is 750.
